iWeb in the classroom....

I am currently experimenting with iWeb and can see a multitude of uses in

my classroom! At the moment, James and I are working on compiling

a database of text types for use with in all KLA'S.

What this essentially means is that the students will have a comprehensive

guide to all of the text types that will be required to use during their schooling.

The benefits of iWeb are that it is interactive, able to be quickly modified and updated,

able to uploaded to the internet and also downloaded for use without the need for the internet.

This is a great interactive tool for the classroom.

The educational and social benefits are incredible and it takes

no time at all to create a game board.

The website provides the template and all the teacher needs to do

is enter the questions and answers.

To play, students are divided into two teams and take turns answering

the questions.

Indeed, the students can create their own game boards based on character knowledge,

plot familiarity or understandings of topical terms.

I use this at the end of lessons as a way of reinforcing and revising language features.

GREEN SCREEN

The green screen is an e-learning tool that I just had

to try in my classroom!

An opportunity presented itself in the form of a competition

entitled "Make A Scene" run by the Bell Shakespeare Theatre Company

This competition requires participants to select a Shakespearean quote

and present it in a modern context, in digital form.

I brought the girls up for a tutorial and they were amazed by what they

could do with the green screen! They could literally transport themselves

to the enchanted woods in "A Midsummer Night's Dream," add music

and sound effects.

If they weren't already excited about the competition..... the green screen

changed that!!

I have found a considerable amount of e-learning support and inspiration from a CEO colleague called Simon Crook.
